Employer tips …

Once you’ve completed your membership registration and are ready to build your company profile, look back to this page for

  • useful tips and advice on creating a successful profile
  • managing your feedback profile
  • how to get the most from your membership of World Direct Jobs

Feedback plays an important part of the World Direct Jobs site and is a key aspect used by job seekers when discussing vacancies with you. This area of the site contains important information about how to manage a good feedback profile.

Getting the most from your membership.

World Direct Jobs matches your vacancies to job seekers with the correct skills, experience and availability. Your vacancy homepage will be continually updated with exact and partial matches. To increase the likelihood of getting exact matches against your vacancy and securing candidates for those jobs, you should consider the following.

Hourly Rate

Be realistic about the annual salary or hourly rate you will pay. If you’re not sure, check local press or the job sections of industry magazines for the going rate. Some good candidates may charge slightly above market rate once they have built up a strong positive feedback profile, as this can be a likely indicator of their performance on the job. Remember, when your company first registers with World Direct Jobs, you have no credentials other than your profile, unless you are a partner with free promotional or advertising space on the site.

Feedback

Manage your feedback profile – when you have contacted or employed job seekers through World Direct, you will receive feedback on your performance as an employer. Building good feedback is worthwhile because it becomes an asset over time, as future job seekers will be able to review it. A good feedback profile takes work to achieve, and negative feedback can take a long time to overcome. It’s worth while managing the aspects of feedback with your job seekers on an ongoing basis. More detailed guidance on managing feedback is included further on in this section.

Timing

Don’t overly restrict the time period you want the candidate, as some good people may not fit exactly the timescales you specify and thus become a partial match. It’s therefore important to check through partial matches as carefully as your exact matches.

Partial or Missed Matches

If few matches exist, increase the distance of your search as technology and home working can give you access to great candidates that may not be on your doorstep.

No Matches

If no exact matches exist, check your partial matches and keep checking your homepage, because new job seekers are registering everyday.

How to manage your feedback profile…

Feedback is a very important part of the World Direct site, so the giving and receiving honest feedback is a key part of your online profile. The aspects of your organisation on which job seekers give feedback include;

  • overall feedback, (based on their experience with you)
  • the quality of communication
  • whether you paid them on time
  • if you were well organised
  • the health, safety and welfare they experienced working with your company
  • whether they would work for you again (Yes / No / Maybe).

As an employer, your feedback profile will consist of an overall ranking score based on all the feedback you’ve had broken down into ‘poor’, ‘ok’ and ‘good’ for the areas above.

Other information about your company available to job seekers when reviewing your profile will be;

  • date you first registered with World Direct
  • number of contacts you have made
  • number of acceptances made by job seekers
  • number of pieces of feedback you have given.

To increase the chances of getting positive feedback, actively manage the following aspect of your candidate’s experience;

  • Pay the going rate.
  • Provide clear instructions at all stages of what is required from the job seeker or, if you have employed a successful candidate, communicate with them regularly.
  • If you say you are going to pay on a certain date - pay on that date: don’t give excuses or allow your company system to delay actual payment. Saying you’ve approved a payment is not good enough for many contractors, especially if payment takes another 30 days after approval. Approve payments earlier.
  • Get your company organised. Job seekers like to work for successful companies: being disorganised can cost your company money, and will affect your online feedback profile.
  • Whether someone would work for you again is a qualitative decision based on everything you have done, but one golden rule is communicate, communicate, communicate. A lot of the time, negative feedback is a result of a breakdown in communication.
  • World Direct operates a Top Employer report that is posted on a 6 monthly basis.  By using World Direct now and building a good profile, your company could save £000’s on its recruitment bill.

REMEMBER: YOUR ONLINE PROFILE IS PART OF YOUR COMPANY ASSETS. MANAGE IT WELL AS YOU WOULD ANY OTHER COMPANY ASSET - IT CAN SAVE YOUR ORGANISATION A LOT OF MONEY OVER THE LONGER TERM.
