Why should I use World Direct?
As a job seeker.
Your chances of getting the job you are after are greatly improved if you go direct to the employer, instead of through a recruitment or employment agency. The advent of the internet has resulted in a massive number of online recruitment agencies and consultancies claiming to be direct, when in reality they are anything but. Usually, they take fees from employers to find you, which means that someone else is deciding if your next employer should speak to you or not.
With World Direct, employers have their own Vacancy Homepage, which is constantly updated with job seeker profiles that match their requirements. They review the profiles and then contact you direct to discuss the vacancy, your skills and availability.
As an employer.
If you want to save time and money, use World Direct. Recruiting staff is a very expensive business for employers, and ‘Yes, there is another way’ if you are fed up with paying increased hourly rates to agencies, or finder’s fees to recruitment consultants. World Direct allows you to review a prioritised list of job seekers who meet your requirements in the area you want to recruit. Having reviewed the list of jobseekers, you contact direct those you like.
Job seekers who use the site don’t see adverts and so won’t be applying speculatively, you therefore know they are serious about changing jobs. So no more effort wasted on people who just want to have an ego boost of a job offer, only to decide to stay where they are.
Why can’t I see employer’s vacancies?
Employer’s vacancies are not listed to job seekers on World Direct because we don’t sell advertising space to employers and therefore there is no need to list jobs. Job seekers can build their online profile free, when a match exists they and the employer are notified. If the employer chooses to make contact the job seeker will receive a call or email from them.
If you don’t list employers’ vacancies, how do people know to apply for the jobs?
Job seekers who use World Direct are looking to change jobs, or are temps or self employed and available for work. Each job seeker has a set of skills and experience that match an employer’s requirements, are a close match, or don’t match at all. World Direct doesn’t encourage speculative applications from job seekers for jobs they might like to do: World Direct is about matching current skills to current employers’ vacancy requirements.
How will I know if employers are interested in my profile?
You will be able to see the number of times your profile has been reviewed by employers, and will be notified when an employer wants to contact you. If you have a lot of reviews and no contact, have a look at our Job Seeker Tips to get the most from your membership and possibly to change your job seeker profile.
Why can’t I see who the employers are?
Employers may be partners of World Direct, so some employer logos will be shown in our promotional spaces. To make World Direct work for employers, they have to remain anonymous until they have reviewed the job seeker’s profile. We have put employers in control of this to avoid top employers being inundated with contacts from job seekers wishing to work for them when no vacancies exist. If an employer decides to contact a job seeker to discuss a vacancy, they will give them access to their online profile where the job seeker can see feedback and other important information about the company seeking to employ them.
Do my personal details remain confidential?
Yes - your job seeker profile is constantly matched to vacancies. Your contact details remain confidential until an employer asks to make contact with you. If you have chosen to remain anonymous during registration an email will be sent to you from worlddirectjobs, if you reply to that email only then is your email address, mobile or home phone number provided to the employer wishing to speak to you. If you have not chosen to remain anonymous the employer will be provided with your contact details to arrange an interview.

Can I change my anonymity?
Yes you can choose to become anonymous if you didn’t choose that option during registration from your job seeker homepage.
How does the online feedback work?
A core part of World Direct is the feedback profile both for employers and job seekers. If you were employed following contact, you can seek feedback about your performance from your employer, and then use this when seeking future jobs through World Direct. Job seeker feedback ranking is a key part of the matching process that employers’ use to decide who to contact about vacancies, so quickly building a good online feedback profile is key to ongoing successful employment through World Direct. The better your feedback, the better your chances of receiving offers of employment.
Employers also have a feedback profile, from previous contacts and employment made through World Direct: this can be reviewed by job seekers when considering whether to accept offers of employment. World Direct operates a top employer scheme where job seekers can see the overall ranking of an employer against other employers using the website.
Is the contact from an employer through World Direct a legally binding contract of offer of employment?
World Direct helps employers and employees come together. Any legally binding offer and acceptance of employment takes place separately from the World Direct website, and job seekers should satisfy themselves of any offers that are made to them before signing any contracts with employers.
Does World Direct guarantee the standard of employers and job seekers?
World Direct can’t guarantee the standard of employers or job seekers, so any vetting needs to be done by the individual in the case of the job seeker, or by the company in case of the employer. As a guide, users of World Direct should review the feedback profile of any prospective job seeker or employer to get a view of how good (or otherwise) the person or company is. If the user has only just registered with World Direct and thus has no feedback profile, we recommend researching the company via the internet, Companies’ House, or by having an interview and gauging how you feel about the company before accepting any offers or resigning from your existing job. World Direct is not responsible for your ultimate choice of job seeker or employer.
Is World Direct any different from any other recruitment site?
Yes absolutely. Traditional recruitment sites get job seekers to upload their CVs against jobs adverts, and then sell the details to employers based on the number of CVs in their database. Typical fees can be 15-30% of a final salary. To justify these fees they screen you and your CV before considering putting your name forward as a suitable candidate. With World Direct, your online profile is matched against EMPLOYERS’ vacancies direct and THEY decide if they want to contact you - not the recruitment consultancy. So never again will your CV go into a black hole, and never again will you be told you don’t have the right experience when you’ve been doing the job for 10 years!
Is World Direct a temp or employment agency?
World Direct is neither. You will not be employed by World Direct, but you will be contacted direct by employers wishing to discuss vacancies.
How is World Direct Jobs different from a temp or employment agency?
World Direct does not employ you. World Direct matches your profile with an employer’s requirements, and the employer contacts you direct to discuss vacancies. Traditional temp/employment agencies employ you and charge you out to the employer at far higher rates than they pay you, sometimes as much as double what they are paying you.
How much does it cost?
For further information about fees please see pricing

What if I’m a recruitment agency or consultancy - is it ok to use World Direct?

What happens if I exaggerate my skills, experience or qualifications?
If you are not truthful about your skills, qualifications and experience, the company employing you has the right to terminate your contract immediately and list negative feedback against your profile. A negative feedback profile takes a lot of work to turn around, so honesty is the best policy. You are far better building a positive feedback profile with a real online profile, rather than build one that is based on exaggeration.

It is possible for you to be the first person to register with your specialism as the list of job seekers increases. This is a good thing, because the quicker you register and activate your account the quicker you can start building your feedback profile, an invaluable asset that employers use to rank suitable candidates when reviewing job seekers for their vacancies. The date you first registered with World Direct is also information that is made available to employers.
Why does World Direct have a feedback system?
When deciding who to contact about vacancies, initially employers will have little information apart from your online profile, the date you registered and how many times your profile has been reviewed. Your feedback score is like your referral to prospective employers. A good feedback profile will greatly improve your chances of being contacted by employers looking to discuss a position or contract with you.
It is also important to have feedback from job seekers about employers using World Direct. Employers take their feedback profile very seriously as it is very valuable to them, especially when filling posts with skills that are in high demand and short supply.

If you believe you have wrongly received negative feedback, or have received it by mistake ,you should first discuss and agree with the person who has given the feedback that it needs changing. If they agree to the change, both parties need to to confirm the agreement to change.
Should the party providing the feedback refuse to change it, you should be honest with yourself and ask the question ‘Did I/we under-perform in this area?’ If after asking this question you still believe you have been wrongly given negative or libellous comments, you have the right to seek recourse through formal channels. World Direct asks all users of the site to take responsibility and be responsible when providing feedback. World Direct is not and cannot be responsible for mediating user feedback.
